Community Works Akron

OPEN M’s Community Works Akron (CWA) is modeled after the highly successful Cincinnati Works program. Through CWA, we serve individuals who want to change their lives. Most CWA participants have a history of generational poverty and are motivated to become more self-sufficient and more successful in the workplace.

CWA is a 5-day workshop aimed at getting individuals ready to work a sustainable job and understand how to manage their finances. The goal is “One Job for One Year!”.

This program not only transforms individuals, but it can also have a ripple effect on family and friends, even affecting generations to come. This is not a job placement program. At OPEN M, we start with job placement. The goal of CWA is job retention that leads to career advancement and sustainability.

  • An emphasis on job retention
  • A customized mentoring program
  • Transportation assistance
  • Relationships with core employers in the community

By training participants to succeed in the workplace, CWA also helps Summit County businesses, providing them with a dependable source of productive, reliable, entry-level workers.
