Food Programs

Our food program numbers are staggering!

Food Programs

Hunger is one of the biggest issues facing our community today. Food on the table or in the fridge is something that most of us take for granted. For some, it can prove to be one of the largest hurdles to overcome yet is still one of the most important. Our Food programs help you feed your family with emergency food assistance, hot lunches, and monthly food giveaways.

We purchase additional staples at reduced cost from the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

Pantry hours are 11:30 am to 2 pm, Monday through Thursday.

We get referrals to this program from Info Line. Call Info Line at 330-376-4850 to find out how to qualify.

Hot Lunch Program

With a high percentage of our population receiving other support (such as food assistance) early each month, we serve meals at the end of the month when food is running low. Hot lunch is provided in partnership with various churches, businesses, and community groups. We serve meals to anyone in need throughout Summit County.

OPEN M serves free hot lunches weekdays, 11:30 am to 1 pm, during the last two weeks of the month (except in November and December).

Mountain of Food

Through a partnership with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, OPEN M distributes 14,000 to 18,000 pounds of free food every month except December. This event provides mainly perishable foods, including bread, pastries, fresh vegetables, and fruit. Individuals and families living in Summit County are eligible. No referral or appointment is necessary, but clients must bring proof of Summit County residency, a photo ID and meet income guidelines.

Mountain of Food is held on the third Friday of each month, from 9 to 11 am.
