CWA Program Slated to Begin April 19
On Monday, April 19, OPEN M will kick off Community Works Akron, a week-long intensive workshop offered free of charge every other month for those in need of employment support.
The workshop will run April 19 - 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. To participate in the workshop, all participants must attend an orientation on April 15 from 1 - 3 p.m. at 941 Princeton St., Akron, OH 44311. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this program can only accommodate seven participants in the month of April.
Led by OPEN M’s Employment Services professionals, this program focuses on barrier identification and resolution, soft skills training and job readiness. Complete with mock interviews, resume support, speakers and a graduation ceremony, this program is intended to help participants prepare for interviews and land a job with one of OPEN M’s Core Employer Partners.
Since the program’s inception in 2014, more than 400 individuals have been helped with finding jobs in Summit County by OPEN M Employment Services. Community Works Akron was briefly suspended in March 2020 due to COVID-19, but OPEN M continued to serve participants with limited attendance daily workshops and virtual meetings.
“We are excited to welcome participants back in the building for this program that has been instrumental in the success of our Employment Services participants. With so many people unemployed or under-employed, we are ready to help them gain the confidence and skill set they need to take charge of their future,” said Christine Curry, OPEN M CEO.
