Heading In The Right Direction

In February 2021, Employment Services Specialist, Zach Stover, connected with Anthony at South Street Ministries’ Front Porch Cafe, a partner ministry of OPEN M. Among many services, South Street Ministries offers Reentry Services to support individuals coming out of incarceration, also known as returning citizens. Anthony, who was released in November, was in the process of turning his life around for his son.

After their initial meeting, Anthony enrolled in OPEN M’s Employment Services program where he worked tirelessly to complete workshops, update his resume, learn interviewing skills and prepare for employment. During his incarceration, Anthony had used his time to earn a welding certification with hopes of establishing a career as a welder upon his release. His hard work and motivation paid off when he received two job offers from OPEN M’s Core Employers just two weeks after entering the ES program. Now, Anthony is employed full-time as a welder at a local welding company.

“Through OPEN M I was able to participate in their workshops that are offered. The staff was very easy to work with and made me feel comfortable and confident,” said Anthony. “OPEN M has helped re-direct my life in the right direction. I am very grateful to participate in a program such as this one.”
