OPEN M Receives $10,000 “A Community Thrives” Grant

OPEN M was announced a grant recipient of A Community Thrives, grantmaking and crowd-funding program from the USA TODAY NETWORK and a part of the Gannett Foundation. OPEN M will receive a $10,000 Local Operating Grant to support the mission of OPEN M.
A Community Thrives supports non-profit organizations with projects focused on community building and has helped to contribute more than $12 million since 2017. This year, A Community Thrives engaged participants in 45 states.
The mission of OPEN M, a Christian non-profit, is to provide pathways out of poverty for all by feeding the hungry, caring for the sick and strengthening the community. OPEN M serves more than 40,000 individuals annually with food, health and employment services—all intended to create pathways out of poverty. Located in the Summit Lake neighborhood of Akron, OPEN M leverages a community alliance of churches, businesses and more than 1,000 volunteers to offer programs to those in need. The A Community Thrives grant will support the missio and the rising community need for OPEN M services caused by COVID-19.
